Safety:
The 2018 Volkswagen Passat has earned a 5 star
overall safety rating from the NHTSA. Although the IIHS has yet to test the
2018 model, the 2017 Passat scored fairly on all crash tests except for
headlights test. In the front crash prevention test, the 2017 model earned an
Advanced rating after it brilliantly avoided a 12-mph collision without
reducing the speed at all in a 25 mpg test. As a result, it was able to get the
Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS.
Standard on all 2018 Passats are automatic
emergency braking and forward collision warning - two essential features that
keep you on the safe side in the car. High trim levels can be obtained with
blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, parking
assist, and lane keep assist.
Exteriors:
The amazing exterior of the 2018 Volkswagen
Passat warms hearts with its simplicity and no-frills styling. The face of
sedan is adorned with a sharp looking LED headlamp and fog lamps with the bold
familiar VW grille. The bumper bears chrome inserts which adds to the charm and
feel, and the lower part of the bumper displays a slight tinge of sportiness.
The side profile is rather plain, with a thick crease running across the
waistline, while the C-pillar looks fairly large.
The allow wheels looks okay unlike some of the
newer offering from the BAG group that are tad boring. The rear is typical VW
fare, with a bulky bumper and boot-lid showcasing the car’s rather generous
dimensions. The design of the Passat may not have you swoon over it, but it is
the most suitable for those who prefer a minimalistic approach.
Interior:
The Passat’s interior offers more space and has
user-friendly center stack controls. Handling is respectable for its size but
it falls slightly short of sportier entries such as Mazda6. On the road,
there’s minimal road and wind noise, turning the Passat’s cabin into a nice
place.
